Privacy Policy — The Preview App

English

The Preview App ("Preview", "the app") is a file browser and viewer for Android. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

The short version

Files on your device

Preview reads your files so it can show them to you, and changes them only when you ask (for example copy, move, rename, duplicate, extract, move to Trash or empty Trash). Files are never uploaded anywhere.

To help you find and reopen files, Preview keeps the following only on your device, in the app's private storage:

• a list of recently opened files;
• your Favorites;
• a record of items you moved to Trash, so they can be restored;
• the last page or position in documents you opened;
• folders you added in Limited mode;
• a search index of file and folder names, so search is fast;
• your settings (theme, language, view and sort options, and similar).

This data is not included in Android cloud backups (backup is turned off for the app). It is removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Files you moved to Trash stay on your storage, in a hidden .preview-trash folder on the same drive, until you restore them or empty Trash.

When another app sends a file to Preview ("Open with" or "Share") and Preview cannot open it where it is, it saves a copy in your Download folder so you can open it again later. You can delete these copies like any other download.

Analytics and crash reporting

Preview includes two services from Google's Firebase platform, in both the Google Play version and the website version. The data goes to our own Firebase project (goodapps-preview).

Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) — how the app is used. According to Google's documentation it collects:

• automatic events: first open, session start, screen views, app update, operating-system update, app removal, and how long the app is used;
• our own usage events: which kind of file was opened and in which viewer, that an open failed, that a search was run and roughly how many results it returned (as a range), that a file operation (copy, move, rename, trash, restore, extract, new folder) happened and whether it succeeded, that a Favorite was toggled, that the file-information screen, Share or Open with was opened, that a new window was opened, and that a setting was changed (the setting's name, not your files). Every one of these carries fixed labels (for example pdf, image, archive), yes/no values and counts in ranges — never text you typed and never anything taken from a file;
• device brand, model and category, operating system and version, device language, app version, and the store the app was installed from;
• an approximate location — country, and region or city — worked out by Google from the IP address of the request. We do not store your IP address;
• an app-instance ID: a random identifier that Google generates for your installation. It is not your name, your Google account, your phone number or Android's advertising ID. It changes when you clear the app's data or reinstall the app.

Analytics itself does not use Android's advertising ID — we switch that off — so no advertising or interest profile is built from the analytics data. The advertising ID is used by the ads; see "Ads" below.

Firebase Crashlytics — crashes and serious errors. According to Google's documentation, a report contains the crash's stack trace (which code was running when it failed), the time of the crash, the app's identifier and version, the operating-system version, your device's model name, CPU architecture, amount of memory and free disk space, whether the device is rooted, and identifiers that let the same crash be grouped and counted (a Crashlytics installation UUID, a Firebase installation ID, and a one-off ID per crash report).

What is never sent, in either service: file names, folder or file paths, the contents of any file, thumbnails or page images, the text you type into search or "go to page", text or data taken from documents you open (including contacts, calendar entries and photo locations), and your name, email address, phone number or any account.

Why we collect it. Preview opens almost any file on almost any Android device. Crash reports are the only way we can see that a release fails on a device we do not own, and the usage events are what tell us which viewers and formats are worth the next piece of work. Google Play's own crash statistics are too coarse and arrive too late to replace this.

Who processes it. We decide what is collected (we are the "controller"); Google processes it for us as our service provider (our "processor"), under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms and Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share this data with anyone else.

How long it is kept. Analytics: user-level and event-level data is kept for 2 months, the shortest period Google offers, and is then deleted; aggregated counts (for example how many times a PDF was opened in a month) stay in Analytics reports. Crashlytics: crash reports and their identifiers are kept for 90 days.

In transit. All of this data is sent to Google over encrypted HTTPS connections.

You have no opt-out switch — what you can do. We decided not to add an analytics toggle, so the only controls are outside the app:

• Uninstalling Preview stops all collection immediately.
• Clearing the app's storage resets the app-instance ID, so earlier data can no longer be connected to your new one.
• You can ask us to delete the analytics data for your installation: write to us through yahiaragae.com. Because we never collect your name, email or any account, we can only find your data by its app-instance ID, so please include it if you can. In every case the data deletes itself within the periods above.

Ads

Preview shows ads, served by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). This is the same in both versions of the app — the one on Google Play and the one downloaded from our website. Builds released before this policy's effective date contain no ads and send none of the data described in this section.

Where they appear: a banner on the browsing screens, a full-screen ad when you open the app from cold (rate-limited, and never when another app has just sent you a file), and an occasional full-screen ad after a long task such as extracting an APK. There are no ads inside any file viewer, and none on the onboarding or permission screens.

According to Google's documentation, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:

• your device's advertising ID and app set ID, and other identifiers tied to accounts signed in on the device;
• your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location;
• ad and app interactions — ad requests, impressions, taps, app opens;
• diagnostic information about app and SDK performance.

Google uses it to select and measure ads and to prevent fraud. For ads, Google does not act only on our instructions the way it does for analytics: it uses this data for its own advertising purposes, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Your files are never used for advertising. No file name, path, content, document text or search term is ever sent in an ad request or used to target an ad.

Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland). If you are in those regions, Preview shows you Google's own consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before any personalised advertising, and keeps a way for you to change your choice later. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalised. Your choice also controls what Firebase Analytics collects.

Your advertising ID. You can reset or delete it at any time in Android Settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads). Resetting it breaks the link to any advertising profile built from it.

Permissions

• All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): lets Preview show every folder on your internal storage, SD cards and USB drives, and copy, move, rename and delete files for you. It is optional: without it, Preview works in Limited mode with only the folders you choose. You can turn it off at any time in Android Settings.
• Read storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Android 12 only): the older form of storage access, used on Android versions that still require it.
• Install unknown apps (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES): lets you install an APK file you open in Preview. Nothing is installed unless you tap Install and confirm in the Android installer. Android asks you to allow this separately.
• Full network access (INTERNET, both versions): used to send the analytics and crash data described above, to request ads, and, in the website version only, for the update check described below. It is never used to upload your files. Google Play versions up to 1.1.11 did not have this permission.
• View network connections and prevent phone from sleeping (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, WAKE_LOCK): added by the Android media player library Preview uses to play videos and music.

When information leaves the app because you asked

Some actions hand a file or a piece of information to another app on your device. They happen only when you start them:

• Share and Open with… send the file you chose to the app you choose.
• Open in maps (for photos with location data) sends that photo's coordinates to the maps app you choose.
• Install (APK files) and Install certificate hand the file to Android's own installer or certificate settings.

What those apps do next is covered by their own privacy policies.

Update check (website version only)

If you installed Preview from our website (yahiaragae.com/preview) instead of Google Play, the app also checks for a newer version: when you open it (and again after a few hours if it stays open), it downloads a small version file (update.json) from yahiaragae.com. Nothing about you or your files is sent. Like any website, the server may record the IP address and time of the request in its standard web-server logs. The Google Play version does not do this; Google Play handles its updates.

Fonts

Preview's display fonts are requested from the Google Fonts provider that is part of Google Play services on your device. The request contains font names only, not your files or personal information. Google Play services may download the fonts under Google's Privacy Policy. If the provider is not available, Preview uses the system font.

Documents you view

Web pages and Office documents are shown with JavaScript turned off and internet loading blocked, so opening a file never contacts a website.

Children

Preview is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly seek data from them. The usage and crash data described above is collected from every installation, and it contains no name, contact details or file information. Ads are requested with a general-audience content setting.

Security

Your files and the lists Preview keeps about them stay on your device, protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's own security (screen lock, encryption). The usage and crash data is sent over HTTPS and stored by Google in our Firebase project.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. If a future version of Preview collects anything beyond what is described here, this policy will be updated before that version is released.

تطبيق «معاينة» أداة لتصفّح الملفات وعرضها على أندرويد. توضّح هذه السياسة ما يحدث لمعلوماتك عند استخدامه.

باختصار

الملفات على جهازك

يقرأ التطبيق ملفاتك ليعرضها لك، ولا يغيّرها إلا بطلب منك (كالنسخ والنقل وإعادة التسمية والتكرار وفك الضغط والنقل إلى سلة المهملات أو إفراغها). لا تُرفع ملفاتك إلى أي مكان.

ولتسهيل العثور على الملفات وإعادة فتحها، يحتفظ التطبيق بما يلي على جهازك فقط في مساحة التخزين الخاصة به:

• قائمة بالملفات المفتوحة مؤخرًا؛
• المفضّلة؛
• سجلّ بما نقلته إلى سلة المهملات لتتمكن من استعادته؛
• آخر صفحة أو موضع وصلت إليه في المستندات؛
• المجلدات التي أضفتها في الوضع المحدود؛
• فهرس لأسماء الملفات والمجلدات لتسريع البحث؛
• إعداداتك (المظهر واللغة وطريقة العرض والترتيب وما شابه).

لا تدخل هذه البيانات في النسخ الاحتياطي السحابي لأندرويد (النسخ الاحتياطي معطّل لهذا التطبيق)، وتُحذف عند مسح بيانات التطبيق أو إلغاء تثبيته. أما الملفات التي نقلتها إلى سلة المهملات فتبقى على وحدة التخزين نفسها في مجلد مخفي اسمه .preview-trash إلى أن تستعيدها أو تُفرغ السلة.

وعندما يرسل إليك تطبيق آخر ملفًا عبر «فتح باستخدام» أو «مشاركة» ولا يستطيع «معاينة» فتحه من مكانه، يحفظ نسخة منه في مجلد التنزيلات (Download) لتتمكن من فتحه لاحقًا، ويمكنك حذفها كأي ملف منزَّل.

التحليلات وتقارير الأعطال

يضمّ «معاينة» خدمتين من منصة Firebase من Google، في نسخة Google Play ونسخة الموقع على حدٍّ سواء، وتذهب البيانات إلى مشروع Firebase الخاص بنا (goodapps-preview).

Firebase Analytics (أي Google Analytics for Firebase) — لقياس كيفية استخدام التطبيق. وبحسب وثائق Google، تجمع هذه الخدمة:

• أحداثًا تلقائية: أول فتح للتطبيق، وبدء الجلسة، وعرض الشاشات، وتحديث التطبيق، وتحديث نظام التشغيل، وإلغاء التثبيت، ومدة الاستخدام؛
• أحداث الاستخدام التي نحدّدها نحن: نوع الملف الذي فُتح والعارض الذي فتحه، وتعذّر فتح ملف، وإجراء عملية بحث وعدد نتائجها بشكل تقريبي (ضمن نطاق)، وحدوث عملية على الملفات (نسخ أو نقل أو إعادة تسمية أو حذف إلى السلة أو استعادة أو فك ضغط أو إنشاء مجلد) ونجاحها أو فشلها، وتغيير المفضّلة، وفتح شاشة معلومات الملف أو «مشاركة» أو «فتح باستخدام»، وفتح نافذة جديدة، وتغيير أحد الإعدادات (اسم الإعداد فقط). وكل هذه الأحداث تحمل تسميات ثابتة (مثل pdf أو image أو archive)، وقيم «نعم/لا»، وأعدادًا في نطاقات — ولا تحمل أبدًا نصًا كتبته ولا أي شيء مأخوذ من ملف؛
• الشركة المصنّعة للجهاز وطرازه وفئته، ونظام التشغيل وإصداره، ولغة الجهاز، وإصدار التطبيق، والمتجر الذي ثُبِّت منه؛
• موقعًا تقريبيًا — الدولة، والمنطقة أو المدينة — تستنتجه Google من عنوان IP الخاص بالطلب. ولا نحفظ نحن عنوان IP؛
• مُعرّف نسخة التطبيق (app-instance ID): معرّف عشوائي تنشئه Google لنسخة التطبيق على جهازك. وهو ليس اسمك ولا حسابك في Google ولا رقم هاتفك ولا معرّف الإعلانات في أندرويد، ويتغيّر عند مسح بيانات التطبيق أو إعادة تثبيته.

ولا تستخدم خدمة التحليلات نفسها معرّف الإعلانات في أندرويد — فقد أوقفنا ذلك — فلا يُبنى من بيانات التحليلات أي ملف إعلاني أو ملف اهتمامات. أما معرّف الإعلانات فتستخدمه الإعلانات؛ انظر «الإعلانات» أدناه.

Firebase Crashlytics — للأعطال والأخطاء الجسيمة. وبحسب وثائق Google، يحتوي التقرير على تتبّع الاستدعاءات (أي الشيفرة التي كانت تعمل لحظة العطل)، ووقت العطل، ومعرّف التطبيق وإصداره، وإصدار نظام التشغيل، واسم طراز جهازك ومعمارية معالجه وحجم ذاكرته والمساحة الحرة فيه، وما إذا كان الجهاز مُروَّتًا (root)، ومعرّفات تتيح تجميع العطل نفسه وعدّه (مُعرّف تثبيت Crashlytics، ومُعرّف تثبيت Firebase، ومعرّف لمرة واحدة لكل تقرير).

ما لا يُرسَل أبدًا في أي من الخدمتين: أسماء الملفات، ومسارات الملفات والمجلدات، ومحتوى أي ملف، والصور المصغّرة أو صور الصفحات، وما تكتبه في البحث أو في «الانتقال إلى صفحة»، وأي نص أو بيانات مأخوذة من المستندات التي تفتحها (بما في ذلك جهات الاتصال والمواعيد ومواقع الصور)، واسمك وبريدك ورقم هاتفك وأي حساب.

لماذا نجمعها. يفتح «معاينة» أي ملف تقريبًا على أي جهاز أندرويد تقريبًا، وتقارير الأعطال هي السبيل الوحيد لمعرفة أن إصدارًا ما يفشل على جهاز لا نملكه، أما أحداث الاستخدام فهي ما يدلّنا على العارضات والصيغ التي تستحق العمل التالي. وإحصاءات الأعطال في Google Play أعمّ من أن تكفي، وتصل متأخرة.

من يعالجها. نحن من يقرّر ما يُجمع (نحن «المتحكّم»)، وGoogle تعالجها لحسابنا كمزوّد خدمة («المعالج») وفق شروط معالجة البيانات وأمنها في Firebase وسياسة خصوصية Google. ولا نشارك هذه البيانات مع أي طرف آخر.

مدة الاحتفاظ بها. في Analytics: تُحفظ البيانات على مستوى المستخدم والحدث مدة شهرين، وهي أقصر مدة تتيحها Google، ثم تُحذف؛ وتبقى الأعداد المجمّعة (مثل عدد مرات فتح ملفات PDF في شهر) في تقارير Analytics. وفي Crashlytics: تُحفظ تقارير الأعطال ومعرّفاتها مدة ٩٠ يومًا.

أثناء النقل. تُرسل هذه البيانات كلها إلى Google عبر اتصالات HTTPS مشفّرة.

لا يوجد خيار للإيقاف… وما يمكنك فعله. قرّرنا عدم إضافة مفتاح لإيقاف التحليلات، فالتحكم الممكن يكون من خارج التطبيق:

• إلغاء تثبيت التطبيق يوقف الجمع فورًا.
• مسح بيانات التطبيق يعيد تعيين مُعرّف نسخة التطبيق، فلا تعود البيانات السابقة قابلة للربط بالمعرّف الجديد.
• ويمكنك أن تطلب منا حذف بيانات التحليلات الخاصة بنسختك: راسلنا عبر yahiaragae.com. ولأننا لا نجمع اسمك ولا بريدك ولا أي حساب، فلا سبيل لنا إلى بياناتك إلا عبر مُعرّف نسخة التطبيق، فأرفقه بطلبك إن أمكن. وفي كل الأحوال تُحذف البيانات من تلقاء نفسها خلال المدد المذكورة أعلاه.

الإعلانات

يعرض «معاينة» إعلانات تقدّمها خدمة Google AdMob (حزمة Google Mobile Ads)، وذلك في نسختي التطبيق معًا: نسخة Google Play والنسخة المنزَّلة من موقعنا. أما الإصدارات الصادرة قبل تاريخ سريان هذه السياسة فلا تحتوي على إعلانات ولا ترسل أي شيء من البيانات الموضّحة في هذا القسم.

أين تظهر: شريط إعلاني في شاشات تصفّح الملفات، وإعلان بملء الشاشة عند فتح التطبيق من جديد (بحدٍّ أقصى للتكرار، ولا يظهر أبدًا إذا كان تطبيق آخر قد أرسل إليك ملفًا للتو)، وإعلان بملء الشاشة من حين لآخر بعد مهمة طويلة كفك ضغط ملف APK. ولا توجد إعلانات داخل أي عارض ملفات، ولا في شاشات التعريف أو الأذونات.

وبحسب وثائق Google، تجمع حزمة Google Mobile Ads:

• معرّف الإعلانات في جهازك ومعرّف مجموعة التطبيقات (app set ID)، وغيرهما من المعرّفات المرتبطة بالحسابات المسجّلة على الجهاز؛
• عنوان IP الخاص بك، ويمكن استخدامه لتقدير موقعك العام؛
• التفاعلات مع الإعلانات ومع التطبيق: طلبات الإعلانات، ومرات الظهور، والنقرات، ومرات فتح التطبيق؛
• معلومات تشخيصية عن أداء التطبيق والحزمة.

وتستخدمها Google لاختيار الإعلانات وقياسها ولمنع الغش. وفي الإعلانات لا تتصرّف Google وفق تعليماتنا فقط كما تفعل في التحليلات، بل تستخدم هذه البيانات لأغراضها الإعلانية الخاصة، كما هو موضّح في سياسة خصوصية Google وفي كيف تستخدم Google المعلومات من المواقع والتطبيقات التي تستعين بخدماتها.

لا تُستخدم ملفاتك في الإعلانات أبدًا. فلا يُرسل أي اسم ملف ولا مسار ولا محتوى ولا نص مستند ولا كلمة بحث في أي طلب إعلان، ولا يُستخدم شيء من ذلك في استهدافك.

الموافقة (المنطقة الاقتصادية الأوروبية والمملكة المتحدة وسويسرا). إن كنت في هذه المناطق، يعرض «معاينة» نموذج الموافقة الخاص بـ Google (منصة رسائل المستخدم UMP) قبل أي إعلانات مخصّصة، ويتيح لك تغيير اختيارك لاحقًا. وإن رفضت، فستظل ترى إعلانات لكنها غير مخصّصة. ويتحكم اختيارك كذلك في ما تجمعه Firebase Analytics.

معرّف الإعلانات الخاص بك. يمكنك إعادة تعيينه أو حذفه في أي وقت من إعدادات أندرويد (عادةً: الإعدادات ← الخصوصية ← الإعلانات)، وإعادة تعيينه تقطع الصلة بأي ملف إعلاني بُني عليه.

الأذونات

• الوصول إلى جميع الملفات (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): ليعرض التطبيق كل المجلدات في الذاكرة الداخلية وبطاقات SD ووحدات USB، ولينسخ الملفات وينقلها ويعيد تسميتها ويحذفها بطلب منك. هذا الإذن اختياري؛ فبدونه يعمل التطبيق في الوضع المحدود مع المجلدات التي تختارها فقط، ويمكنك إلغاؤه في أي وقت من إعدادات أندرويد.
• قراءة وحدة التخزين (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE، على أندرويد 12 فقط): الصيغة الأقدم لإذن التخزين، تُستخدم على الإصدارات التي ما زالت تتطلبها.
• تثبيت التطبيقات غير المعروفة (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES): لتثبيت ملف APK تفتحه في التطبيق. لا يُثبَّت شيء إلا إذا ضغطت «تثبيت» ووافقت في أداة التثبيت الخاصة بأندرويد، ويطلب أندرويد منك السماح بذلك بشكل منفصل.
• الوصول الكامل إلى الشبكة (INTERNET، في النسختين): يُستخدم لإرسال بيانات الاستخدام وتقارير الأعطال الموضّحة أعلاه، ولطلب الإعلانات، وفي نسخة الموقع فقط للتحقق من التحديثات الموضّح أدناه. ولا يُستخدم أبدًا لرفع ملفاتك. ولم تكن نسخ Google Play حتى الإصدار 1.1.11 تملك هذا الإذن.
• عرض اتصالات الشبكة ومنع الهاتف من السكون (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE وWAKE_LOCK): تضيفهما مكتبة تشغيل الوسائط في أندرويد التي يستخدمها التطبيق لتشغيل الفيديو والصوت.

متى تخرج المعلومات من التطبيق بطلب منك

بعض الإجراءات تسلّم ملفًا أو معلومة إلى تطبيق آخر على جهازك، ولا تحدث إلا حين تبدأها أنت:

• مشاركة وفتح باستخدام… ترسلان الملف الذي اخترته إلى التطبيق الذي تختاره.
• فتح في الخرائط (للصور التي تحمل بيانات موقع) يرسل إحداثيات تلك الصورة إلى تطبيق الخرائط الذي تختاره.
• تثبيت (لملفات APK) وتثبيت الشهادة تسلّمان الملف إلى أداة التثبيت أو إعدادات الشهادات في أندرويد نفسه.

وتخضع هذه التطبيقات بعد ذلك لسياسات الخصوصية الخاصة بها.

التحقق من التحديثات (نسخة الموقع فقط)

إذا ثبّتَّ «معاينة» من موقعنا (yahiaragae.com/preview) بدلًا من Google Play، فإن التطبيق يتحقق أيضًا من وجود إصدار أحدث: عند فتحه (ومرة أخرى بعد بضع ساعات إذا بقي مفتوحًا) ينزّل ملفًا صغيرًا لرقم الإصدار (update.json) من yahiaragae.com. ولا يُرسَل أي شيء عنك أو عن ملفاتك. وكأي موقع ويب، قد يسجّل الخادم عنوان IP ووقت الطلب في سجلات الخادم المعتادة. أما نسخة Google Play فلا تفعل ذلك، إذ تتولى Google Play تحديثها.

الخطوط

يطلب التطبيق خطوط العرض من مزوّد خطوط Google المدمج في خدمات Google Play على جهازك. يتضمن الطلب أسماء الخطوط فقط، لا ملفاتك ولا معلوماتك الشخصية. وقد تنزّل خدمات Google Play هذه الخطوط وفق سياسة خصوصية Google. وإن لم يتوفر المزوّد، يستخدم التطبيق خط النظام.

المستندات التي تعرضها

تُعرض صفحات الويب ومستندات Office مع تعطيل JavaScript وحظر أي تحميل من الإنترنت، فلا يؤدي فتح أي ملف إلى الاتصال بأي موقع.

الأطفال

«معاينة» أداة عامة وليست موجّهة للأطفال، ولا نسعى عن علم إلى جمع بيانات منهم. أما بيانات الاستخدام وتقارير الأعطال الموضّحة أعلاه فتُجمع من كل نسخة مثبّتة، وهي لا تحتوي على اسم ولا بيانات تواصل ولا أي معلومة عن ملفاتك. وتُطلب الإعلانات بإعداد محتوى مناسب للجمهور العام.

الأمان

تبقى ملفاتك والقوائم التي يحفظها التطبيق عنها على جهازك، ويحميها عزل التطبيقات في أندرويد وإعدادات الأمان في جهازك (قفل الشاشة والتشفير). أما بيانات الاستخدام والأعطال فتُرسل عبر HTTPS وتُخزَّن عند Google في مشروع Firebase الخاص بنا.

التغييرات على هذه السياسة

إذا تغيّرت هذه السياسة، تُنشر النسخة الجديدة على هذا العنوان بتاريخ سريان جديد. وإذا جمع إصدار مستقبلي من التطبيق أي شيء يزيد على ما ورد هنا، فستُحدَّث هذه السياسة قبل إطلاق ذلك الإصدار.
