Print Bridge privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026. Applies to two apps for Android by the same developer: Print Bridge: USB Print Server (com.goodapps.printbridge) and Print Bridge: USB Printer (com.goodapps.printbridgeusb).
The two apps
- Print Bridge: USB Print Server turns an Android phone, tablet or TV with a USB printer plugged in into a printer that every phone, tablet and computer on the same Wi-Fi can use.
- Print Bridge: USB Printer prints PDFs and photos from the phone or tablet the printer is plugged into. It runs no print server and nothing on your network.
Both carry the same printer drivers and talk to the same server, so most of this page is about both. Where they differ, the text names the app: Print Bridge or USB Printer.
The short version
- The documents you print are never sent to us or to anyone else. With Print Bridge they travel from your devices to your printer over your own Wi-Fi; with Print Bridge: USB Printer, from your phone down the USB cable.
- Both apps send usage statistics and crash reports to Google's Firebase service (its Analytics and Crashlytics tools), and tell our server about the printers they are used with, so that printing problems can be found and fixed. These never contain documents, their names, people's names or addresses.
- The app's activity log is sent to the developer unless you turn it off. Print Bridge says so in setup and has a button, Turn it off; Print Bridge: USB Printer shows a one-time notice the first time it opens. In both you can turn it off at any time in Settings (Settings › Advanced › Share the activity log in Print Bridge, Settings › Share the activity log in USB Printer). An answer you gave earlier is kept. The part of the log that is sent is made so that the names of documents, people and devices and network addresses never go into it: each is replaced by a stand-in word when the line is written.
- Your email address is sent only if you type it to be told when your printer works. You get one email, and the address is deleted when it is sent.
- A photo of a printed page is sent only if you choose to send one, to show what went wrong. It is kept for 90 days.
- There are no accounts and nothing is sold. Both apps show ads from Google, and a one-time purchase removes them (see Ads).
Who we are
Both apps are made by Yahia Ragae, publishing as Good Apps. Website: yahiaragae.com. For anything about your privacy, write to info@yahiaragae.com.
What stays on your device and your network
Print Bridge
Print Bridge runs a small print server on your Android phone, tablet or TV. This information is kept on that device and is not sent to us:
- The documents being printed. A document is received from the sending device, turned into pages, sent to the printer over USB, and then deleted from the device. The app does not keep copies of the documents it prints.
- The job history shown in the app: document name, the user or device name the sender gave, its address on your network, the time, the page count and whether it printed.
- An activity log of what the print server did, in full, including document names and senders (about 8 MB at most, the oldest part dropped first). The device keeps it in two copies: the full one, which never leaves the device, and a second one made of the same lines in which every name, address and similar detail is replaced by a stand-in word such as "name". Only the second copy is ever sent anywhere.
- Your settings, including the printer's name and, if you set one, a scrambled form of the web page password, and, for each browser signed in to that page, a scrambled form of its sign-in cookie. After several wrong passwords the page makes the person wait before the next try.
The app also serves a small web page on your own network, at the address it shows you, where anyone on the same Wi-Fi can see the printer's status and job history, change settings, and download the activity log kept on the device. Set a password in Settings › Sharing › Web page password if other people use your Wi-Fi. This page cannot be reached from the internet unless your own network has been set up to expose it.
USB Printer
- The documents you print. You choose them in Android's own file picker, or another app hands them over (Share, Open with). The app reads only the documents you give it, turns them into pages on the phone and sends them to the printer over USB. It needs no permission to your storage.
- Recent prints: the last 10 documents you printed, kept as shortcuts to open them again (the documents themselves are not copied), newest first. A document you delete or move simply drops off the list.
- An activity log of what the app did, in the same two copies as Print Bridge's: the full one never leaves the phone.
- Your settings: the printer, the paper size, the theme, and whether Google Play says you bought Remove ads.
Uninstalling an app, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes everything in this section for that app.
What the apps send
Usage statistics (6) and crash reports (7) are sent by every installation of both apps, and Print Bridge also sends printer reports (2) by itself. The activity log (1) is sent unless you turn it off. Everything else is sent only when you choose: a printer report from Print Bridge: USB Printer (2) when you ask for your printer, your email address (3) when you type it, a photo (4) when you send one. A request for a driver (5) is made when a printer is plugged in or the app starts, and again at most once a day while it stays plugged in.
1. A diagnostics log, to the developer's server (unless you turn off sharing the activity log)
The activity log is shared unless you turn it off. Print Bridge says so in setup and has a button, Turn it off; USB Printer shows a one-time notice the first time it opens, and Settings › Share the activity log stays on until you turn it off. If you already answered in an earlier version, your answer is kept. While sharing is on, the app sends its activity log to yahiaragae.com as it is written. What is sent contains:
- a random ID created when the app is installed, so we can tell one installation from another. It is not your name, your Google account or your phone number;
- the make and model of the Android device, its Android version and the app version;
- which printer is plugged in: its maker, model and the numbers it identifies itself by, the technical description it gives of itself (what kind of device it is and which ways of printing it understands) and the version of its built-in software (its serial number and everything else it reports are never sent);
- for each print job: the format, size, number of pages, the usual print options (such as copies, sides or paper size, only when the value is one of the standard ones; anything else is replaced by a stand-in), how long it took, and, in Print Bridge, the kind of device that sent it (Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android);
- which steps the app took to get the printer ready, and errors: the kind of error and where in the app it happened, never its text.
What never goes into the copy that is sent: the names of documents; the names of people and devices, including the name your printer is shared under; e-mail addresses; serial numbers; the texts of error messages; and hardware and host names of devices on your network. Each network address is replaced by a stand-in word ("address"), so we can tell that a line is about a device on your network without learning which.
This is not done by searching finished text for names. Each line of the log is built from separate pieces, and a piece goes into the sent copy only if it is fixed wording written into the app, a number, or one of a few kinds of value the app knows to be harmless (the printer's model as its maker reports it, a file format from a fixed list of well-known ones such as PDF, a print-option value from the standard list, the kind of device that sent a job). Everything else, which means anything that came from a person, a document, the network or something you typed, is replaced by a stand-in word such as "name", "document" or "address". As a second safety net the text is also scanned for patterns of names and addresses before it is sent. The log never contains the contents of a document.
2. A report about a printer the app can't make print yet
Print Bridge tells our server about a printer in two cases. The first is when you connect a printer Print Bridge has no driver for. The second is when it has a driver, or you chose Try printing anyway, but you answered Nothing came out for every way of printing that the app knows for that printer. For a printer with no driver the report repeats at most every ten minutes while that printer stays connected; in the second case it is sent once, when you give that answer.
USB Printer sends a report only when you tap Ask for this printer on the screen that says your printer isn't supported yet.
The report contains: the printer's maker, model and the numbers it identifies itself by, the technical description it gives of itself (every other detail, its serial number included, is left out); in Print Bridge's second case, the ways of printing that were tried; your Android device's make and model; the app and its version; the random installation ID; and, while you share the activity log (as it is by default), the last part of the shareable copy of the log described above (a short excerpt). The server answers with what to show you, for example that support is being worked on.
3. Your email address, if you ask to be told when your printer works
Where an app says your printer isn't supported yet, you can type your email address under Email me when it works (in Print Bridge on phones, tablets and TVs). It is sent with the printer report, and only with your agreement. Our server keeps it apart from everything else, with the time, the app, a random code for the unsubscribe link and a scrambled form of the installation ID, so one installation leaves at most one address per printer. No page shows it and it is never written into a log.
When the developer marks that printer as working in that app, our server sends one email to that address saying so, from info@yahiaragae.com, and deletes the address as the email goes. The email has a link that confirms the address is gone, and deletes it if it is still there. You can also delete it before then: Stop emails, where you typed it in the app. We keep no address for a printer that already works in that app or that can't be made to work, we send nothing else to it, and we give it to no one. The email goes through our web host's mail system, which keeps its own delivery record, as for any email it sends.
4. A photo of a printed page, if you choose to send one
When you answer It printed, but something's wrong or Nothing came out, the app can offer to send a photo of the page, so the developer can see what the printer did (Print Bridge does not offer it on TVs). You choose the photo, or take it with your camera app; the app itself has no camera permission. It sends a reduced-size copy with the printer model, the way of printing that was used and your answer, together with the app and device details described below. The server keeps no IP address and no country with a photo. Photos are kept for 90 days, at most 300 of them, and only the developer can see them, after signing in. A photo shows what is on the page: send one of a page you are happy for the developer to see, such as the test page.
5. A request for a printer's driver
When a printer is plugged in or the app starts, the app asks our server whether it knows a driver for it. For a printer that no built-in driver fits, this is how it can be made to work. For a printer the app already knows, the app checks whether there is a better driver for it; while the printer stays plugged in it asks again at most once a day, and printing never waits for the answer. The request carries the printer's maker, model, the numbers it identifies itself by and the technical description it gives of itself (the same details as in a printer report) and, for a printer the app already knows, which way of printing it chose, with the app and device details described below. The server answers, and the app keeps the answer on the device and uses it again.
The server keeps a record of each driver request: when it was made, the app and its version, the printer's maker, model, the numbers it identifies itself by and its technical description (never its serial number), which way of printing the app chose, and the answer it was given. Nothing about your phone is in it except which app and version sent the request, and it has no IP address and no installation ID. It is kept for 30 days, and only the developer can see it, on the same password-protected page.
6. Usage statistics, to Google Analytics for Firebase
Print Bridge tells Google Analytics when it is opened and whether setup is finished; whether it is running on a phone, tablet or TV; the printer model and which way of printing the app is using for it (for example the print quality); for each job, the format, the way of printing, the kind of device that sent it (for example "Windows" or "iPhone"), the number of pages, how long it took and, if it failed, the kind of error (for example that the connection to the printer broke), never its message; and when you start an update. It also tells it about the one-time purchase: when the app starts suggesting it, when you open it in Google Play, and when Google Play confirms it. For a printer the app has not been proven on, it asks Did a page come out? after a test page, and your answer is sent as well: the printer model, the way of printing, whether a page came out (or came out wrong), and whether it was the last way the app had to try. Print Bridge: USB Printer sends the same kind of events about its own screens: setup, the printer, each job and your answer to that question. These events never include a document's name, a sender's name or an address.
Google's Analytics service also collects on its own an identifier for this installation of the app, basic device information (model, Android version, language, country), a rough location (country or region) worked out from the IP address, and, when something is bought in the app, the purchase: which product, its name and its price. Analytics' collection of the advertising ID is switched off; only Google's ads service uses it (see Ads).
7. Crash reports, to Firebase Crashlytics
If the app crashes or a print job fails, a report goes to Google's Crashlytics service: where in the app it happened, the device model and Android version, the state of the device at that moment (such as free memory), an identifier for this installation, the printer model, the way of printing in use and whether the device is a phone, tablet or TV. For a failed print job or a crash, the report names the kind of error and where it happened; the error's own message is replaced by a stand-in before it is sent.
What everything sent to our server also says about the app
Everything either app sends to yahiaragae.com says which of the two apps it is and which version, where it was installed from, the device's maker and model, the Android version, whether the device is a phone, tablet or TV, and the app's language; and the random installation ID, but only while you share the activity log (on by default). The server records these with whatever it keeps from what was sent, so we can tell which app and version a report came from. Names, email addresses, document names, serial numbers and anything you typed are never part of it.
Ads and the one-time purchase
Both apps show ads from Google AdMob. A one-time purchase through Google Play (Remove ads) removes them. Where the law asks for it, the app asks for your consent with Google's own consent form before any ad is requested.
What the ads and the purchase involve
To choose ads and count how they are seen, Google's ads service collects the device's advertising ID, the IP address and a rough location worked out from it, basic device information (model, Android version, language) and how the ad was seen and tapped. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android's settings (Settings › Google › Ads on most devices). Google uses this data under its own policies. Google's ads service is never given documents, document names, people's names, email addresses, photos or the activity log.
Google Play handles every payment: we receive only Google Play's answer that this Google account owns the purchase, never payment details.
What happens whatever you chose
- A start-up file for some printers. Some older HP LaserJet printers need a small start-up file each time they are switched on. The first time such a printer is connected, the app downloads that file from www.quirinux.org and keeps it on the device. That site sees the request's IP address and nothing else.
- A diagnostics report you send yourself Print Bridge. Pressing Settings › Advanced › Diagnostics › Send uploads the shareable copy of the activity log (the copy described above) to the developer's server. Nothing else is part of it: not the full log, and never copies of documents or other files. This happens only when you press the button.
- Updates. Google Play updates both apps and offers new versions in the app. Print Bridge from Google Play also asks our website which version is the newest and which is the oldest that still works, by reading a small file on our website, so the app can tell you when an update is available or required. Print Bridge: USB Printer has done this since its first version, with its own small file on our website. Both apps ask each time they are opened or come back to the front; Print Bridge also asks when its print server starts, because a TV can run for weeks without the app being opened. Copies of Print Bridge downloaded from this website before it moved to Google Play read the same file. These requests carry the app and device details above, the server keeps nothing from them, and like any web request they come from your IP address.
What our server adds
With the activity log and with reports you send yourself, the server records the IP address the request came from and the country it belongs to; with printer reports it records the country only. To find the country it sends the IP address, and nothing else, to a small lookup service that turns an internet address into a country (country.is, or ipinfo.io if the first does not answer), once for each new address, and remembers the address with its country. Photos, email addresses and driver requests are kept without either.
People who print through someone else's Print Bridge
If you print to a printer shared by Print Bridge on another person's device, the name of your document, the user or device name your phone or computer supplies when printing, and your device's address on that network are recorded on that person's device, in its job history and activity log. They are not sent to the developer: they never go into the copy of the log that is sent, and no other route sends them. The contents of your document are not sent to anyone, and no copy of it is kept on that person's device.
Why we collect it
Both apps work with printers we cannot test ourselves. The log, the crash reports and the photos people choose to send are how we find out why a page did not print on a printer on the other side of the world, and the statistics and printer reports tell us which printers people really own, so that we add support for those first. An email address is used only to say, once, that your printer works. We do not use any of it for advertising and we do not build profiles of people. The ads are chosen by Google, as described under Ads, without any of it.
Who receives it
- The developer. The diagnostics log, printer reports, the record of driver requests, photos, reports you send and email addresses are stored on the developer's own website account (yahiaragae.com), where nobody else can reach them. Only the developer can read them, through a password-protected page, which shows how many addresses are waiting but never the addresses.
- Google, for Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. Google processes this on the developer's behalf under Firebase's privacy and security terms.
- Google AdMob, for the ads described under Ads, and Google Play for the one-time purchases.
- The IP lookup services named above, which receive only an IP address.
We do not sell this information and we do not give it to anyone else, unless the law requires it.
How long it is kept
- Diagnostics log: only the most recent part of the log for each installation (a few megabytes). Older lines are deleted as new ones arrive. The summary for an installation (app, device model, printer model, app version, IP address, country, first and last time seen) is kept until you ask us to delete it.
- Reports you send yourself: the newest 500 from all users are kept. Older ones are deleted automatically.
- Printer reports: one entry for each printer model, counting how many installations asked for it, from which app and version, with the most recent log excerpt. We keep at most 300 models, and longer any model someone is waiting to hear about. Your installation ID is stored there only in a shortened, scrambled form.
- Driver requests: the record of each one (described under 5) is kept for 30 days. Older records are deleted as new ones arrive.
- Email addresses: until the one email is sent, when the address is deleted; or until you delete it yourself (Stop emails, or the link) or ask us to. If that printer is never made to work, the address waits until you delete it.
- Photos: 90 days, and at most the newest 300.
- Crashlytics: Google keeps crash reports and their identifiers for 90 days.
- Analytics: Google keeps data tied to an installation for 2 months for Print Bridge and 2 months for Print Bridge: USB Printer. Totals that no longer point to an installation may be kept longer.
How to switch it off
Print Bridge: in setup, choose "Turn it off"; at any later time, go to Settings › Advanced › Share the activity log and turn it off. USB Printer: turn it off in the notice shown the first time it opens, or at any time in Settings › Share the activity log. From that moment the app stops sending the diagnostics log, leaves it out of printer reports, and discards any log lines that were waiting to be sent. Printing works exactly the same with sharing off.
The activity log is the only thing sent by default that you can switch off. Your email address and photos are sent only when you give them; Stop emails deletes an address you left. Usage statistics, crash reports, printer reports and driver requests are part of how the apps are kept working and have no switch. They carry no documents, names or addresses, as described above. To stop them, uninstall the app.
Turning sharing off does not delete what was already sent. For that, see the next section.
How to ask for deletion
Write to info@yahiaragae.com and ask us to delete your data, saying which app you use (Print Bridge, or Print Bridge: USB Printer). There are no accounts, so to find your data please tell us the make and model of your Android device, the printer model, your country, and roughly when you used the app; for an email address, the address itself. We delete the matching data from our server within 30 days and tell you when it is done. Crash reports and usage statistics held by Google expire on the schedule above.
Security
Everything the apps send to our server and to Google is sent over a secure, encrypted connection. Printing inside your home network with Print Bridge works the way computers usually print, which is normally not encrypted unless the sending device chooses the secure option the app also offers. Print Bridge: USB Printer prints over the USB cable only.
Children
Both apps are tools for people who look after a printer. They are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
This website
The Print Bridge page on this website, which shows both apps, uses Google Analytics, and when a visitor follows its link to Print Bridge on Google Play our server records the time, the country, the IP address, the browser type and the page the visitor came from. This privacy page uses no analytics.
Changes
If either app starts to collect something else, or we change what we do with it, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.

Print Bridge
USB Printer
Remove ads.
يوضح Print Bridge ذلك أثناء الإعداد ويضع زرًّا Turn it off؛ ويعرض USB Printer إشعارًا لمرة واحدة عند أول فتح له، ويبقى Settings › Share the activity log مفعَّلًا إلى أن توقفه.
Email me when it works
It printed, but something's wrong أو Nothing came out، قد يعرض عليك التطبيق إرسال صورة للصفحة ليرى المطوِّر ما فعلته الطابعة (ولا يعرض Print Bridge ذلك على التلفزيونات).
Google Analytics for Firebase
Did a page come out?
Firebase Crashlytics
Print Bridge: أثناء الإعداد اختر «Turn it off»، وفي أي وقت بعد ذلك انتقل إلى Settings › Advanced › Share the activity log وأوقف المفتاح.
