About this policy

5 Day Gym Workout - Fit & Lean ("the app"; on your phone and inside the app it is called Weekly Workout) is a gym workout plan and tracker made by Yahia Ragae under the name Good Apps ("we", "us"). Its package name on Google Play is com.goodapps.workouttracker. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, who receives it, and the choices you have. It covers the app on Android and, where it is offered, on iPhone, and this website.

The short version

  • No account, no sign-up. The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details.
  • Your workout progress and settings stay on your device. We run no server for this app and never receive your progress.
  • The app uses three Google Firebase services: Analytics (how the app is used), Crashlytics (crash reports) and Remote Config (settings we control, such as the oldest version still supported).
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which use your device's advertising ID, within the choices described in "Ads" below. Where the app offers the optional one-time Remove Ads purchase, Google Play or Apple handles the payment and we never see your payment details.
  • We never sell, rent or trade your data.

1. Information stored on your device

To work, the app keeps the following only on your device, in its private storage (Android's SharedPreferences or iOS's user defaults, and a small local SQLite database):

  • which exercises (including warm-up and cardio) and which days you have marked as done;
  • your settings: theme (light, dark or follow the system) and language;
  • whether you bought Remove Ads (where the app offers it);
  • small counters the app uses to space out full-screen ads (for example how many times the app has been opened and when the last full-screen ad was shown);
  • where the law requires a consent choice for ads, that choice, stored by Google's consent software;
  • the built-in workout plan and the last settings received from Remote Config, so the app works offline.

None of this is sent to us. You do not need an internet connection to follow your workout and track your progress.

Phone backups. If your phone's own backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud on iPhone), the operating system may include this app data in your backup. That backup belongs to your Google or Apple account and is handled by Google or Apple; we cannot see it.

2. Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)

Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) tells us how the app is used. According to Google's documentation and the app's code, it collects:

  • automatic events: first open, session start, screen views, app updates, operating-system updates, app removal, and how long the app is used;
  • our own events: that a workout day was opened, that an exercise or a whole day was completed, that a day or the week was reset, that an exercise video was opened, that a setting such as the theme was changed, that an ad was shown, and that the Remove Ads purchase was started, completed or failed. These events carry names from the app's built-in plan (for example "Push Day") and simple values, never text you typed;
  • device and app information: device brand, model and type, operating system and version, device language, app version, and the store the app was installed from;
  • approximate location: country and region or city, worked out by Google from your IP address. We never receive your IP address;
  • identifiers: an app-instance ID, a random ID that Google creates for your installation (it changes when you clear the app's data or reinstall it), and a Firebase installation ID. Where your device allows it, Analytics may also read your device's advertising ID; on iPhone, only if you allow tracking (see "Ads").

Why: to see which parts of the app are used and where people stop, so we can improve the plan and the app.

3. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes or hits a serious error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report. According to Google's documentation it contains the stack trace (which code was running), the time, the app's identifier and version, the operating-system version, device model, CPU architecture, free memory and disk space, screen orientation, whether the device is rooted or jailbroken, a Crashlytics installation ID and a Firebase installation ID, plus short technical log lines about what the app was doing just before. It contains no name, email address or contact details.

Why: crash reports are how we find and fix problems on phones we do not own.

4. App settings from our server (Firebase Remote Config)

When the app starts it asks Firebase Remote Config for settings we control, such as the oldest app version that is still supported and the store link for updates. If your version is too old, the app asks you to update. The request carries a Firebase installation ID and basic details such as the app version, platform and device language, so that the right settings come back. No personal information is sent.

Who processes the Firebase data, and for how long

We decide what is collected (we are the "controller"). Google processes it for us as our service provider (our "processor"), under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms and Google's Privacy Policy; see also Privacy and Security in Firebase. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries, with the safeguards described in those terms. We do not share it with anyone else.

  • Analytics: user-level and event-level data is kept for the retention period set in our Analytics property, at most 14 months, and then deleted automatically. Totals that cannot identify anyone (for example how many workouts were completed in a month) may stay in reports.
  • Crashlytics: crash reports are kept for 90 days.
  • Firebase installation IDs and Remote Config: kept as described in Google's Firebase privacy information linked above.

All of this data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.

5. Ads (Google AdMob)

The app is free and is paid for by ads, served by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK): banner ads, native ads that sit among the workout cards, and now and then a full-screen ad, for example after you finish a workout day or when you come back to the app. According to Google's documentation, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:

  • your device's advertising ID (Android) or IDFA (iPhone, only if you allow tracking), and the app set ID;
  • your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location;
  • device and app information such as model, operating system, language, and the app's name and version;
  • ad interactions: ad requests, impressions and taps;
  • diagnostic information about the performance of the app and the SDK.

On recent Android versions the SDK may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox features (ad topics and ad attribution), which you control in Android Settings under Privacy → Ads.

Google uses this information to show ads, to measure them and to prevent fraud. For ads, Google also uses the information for its own purposes, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Personalised and non-personalised ads. Personalised ads are chosen using your advertising ID and your past activity. Non-personalised ads are chosen from the context, such as the app and your general location, but Google still uses some data for things like limiting how often you see an ad, measurement and fraud prevention.

Consent. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message before ads are loaded and asks for your consent to use your information for personalised ads. If you do not consent, you may still see ads, but they are not personalised. You can change your choice at any time with Ad privacy choices in the app's Settings (this option appears where the law requires it), or by clearing the app's data so the app asks again. You can also write to us.

iPhone. Before any ad is loaded, the app shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", the app does not access your IDFA and ads are not personalised with it. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Your advertising ID on Android. You can reset or delete it at any time in Android Settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads, depending on the device). Resetting it breaks the link to any profile built from it. You can also manage ad personalisation in Google's My Ad Center.

If you buy Remove Ads (where the app offers it), the app stops showing ads.

6. The Remove Ads purchase

The app contains Google Play Billing (and, on iPhone, the App Store's in-app purchase system) for an optional one-time purchase called Remove Ads. Where the app offers it and you buy it, the store handles the payment: we never see your card or bank details or your billing address. The store tells the app whether the purchase is valid, and the app keeps a note on your device that you bought it; restoring purchases asks the store again. Google and Apple give developers limited purchase records (for example an order number, date, price and country), which we use only for accounting and refunds. Their own privacy policies cover the payment: Google, Apple.

7. Links that open other apps

  • Watch Video (the play button on an exercise) opens YouTube search results for that exercise's form, in the YouTube app or your browser.
  • View Alternatives opens a Google image search for alternatives to that exercise in your browser.
  • Update Now opens the app's page in the store.

Only the exercise name goes into the search. What YouTube, Google or the store do next is covered by their own privacy policies, and depends on whether you are signed in there.

8. Permissions

On Android the app asks for no permission that shows a prompt. Its manifest lists:

  • Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): for ads, Firebase and opening links. Following your workout does not need them.
  • Advertising ID and Android ad services (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS): used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK as described in "Ads".
  • Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): for the optional Remove Ads purchase.
  • Install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE): lets Firebase Analytics know how the app was found on Google Play, for example from a search or a link.
  • Keep awake and background work (WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE): added by the Google libraries above so they can finish sending data in the background.

The app does not use your location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files or notifications. On iPhone, the only permission it asks for is App Tracking Transparency.

9. Children

The app is a gym training plan for adults and teenagers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and information about them was collected, contact us and we will delete what we can as soon as we can.

10. Legal bases and your rights (GDPR and similar laws)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, we rely on:

  • providing the app you asked for, for the data stored on your device and for the optional Remove Ads purchase;
  • our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, fixing crashes and improving it, for Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config, and in funding a free app with non-personalised ads;
  • your consent, where required, for personalised ads.

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use (including objecting to analytics), to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because the app has no accounts, we usually cannot tell which Firebase data belongs to you. Write to us and we will help as far as we can; the data on your device is under your control at all times (see below).

11. Keeping and deleting your data

  • On your device: kept until you reset it ("Reset" on a day, or the reset button for the week), clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
  • To delete everything on your device: uninstall the app, or open Android Settings → Apps → Weekly Workout → Storage → Clear storage (on iPhone, delete the app). Clearing the data also gives the app a new app-instance ID, so earlier analytics can no longer be linked to it.
  • Firebase data: deleted automatically within the periods above. You can also ask us to delete it by email.
  • Ad data: kept by Google under its own policies; reset or delete your advertising ID to cut the link.

12. Sharing

We share information only as described here: with Google (Firebase and AdMob), with Google Play or Apple for purchases, and when the law requires it. We never sell, rent or trade it.

13. Security

Your progress and settings stay in the app's private storage, protected by your phone's app sandbox and its own security (screen lock, encryption). Everything the app sends to Google goes over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep what is collected to what is described here.

14. This website

This website (yahiaragae.com/workout) uses no cookies, no analytics and no JavaScript, and loads nothing from other websites. Like any website, our web host may record the IP address, time and page of each request in its standard server logs.

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. If a future version of the app collects anything beyond what is described here, this policy will be updated before that version is released.

5 Day Gym Workout

تسري على تطبيق 5 Day Gym Workout - Fit & Lean (com.goodapps.workouttracker) من Yahia Ragae (Good Apps). للتواصل: developer.goodapps@gmail.com

English

اسم حزمته على Google Play هو com.goodapps.workouttracker.

(Firebase Analytics)

تخبرنا Firebase Analytics (‏Google Analytics for Firebase) بكيفية استخدام التطبيق.

(Firebase Crashlytics)

(Firebase Remote Config)

(Google AdMob)

Google Mobile Ads:

  • معرّف الإعلانات وخدمات الإعلانات في أندرويد (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID، ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID، ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION، ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS): تستخدمها حزمة Google Mobile Ads كما في قسم «الإعلانات».
